NSW Health is committed to achieving a 'Fit for Purpose workforce' for now and the future. The Focus on the Future Workforce Initiative has the aim to support the health system to ensure a resilient and digitally-enabled workforce that can adapt to the changes in system caused by the disruption of technology. By focusing not just on the now but also the future, NSW Health can ensure that we meet the needs of the community now and into the future.
Health care is changing and so are the needs and expectations of communities, patients and their carers. Our workforce also needs to adapt and change to meet competing demands on healthcare services.
There are already fast-paced changes occurring with the introduction or evolution of new technology in healthcare. The power and opportunity for health services with the new and improved application of big data analytics, artificial intelligence, augmented or virtual reality, robotics and nano technology cannot be ignored.
Our health system is complex and we need to focus on the future and plan ahead to support our workforce in leveraging new technologies so our NSW communities can continue to receive world class health care.
